The brief, in three moves

What we built and why.

Problem

Where we started

Direct-to-consumer kratom retailer competing in a fragmented, lightly-regulated category where buyers can't tell a serious vendor from a fly-by-night seller. Their differentiation is real — high-mitragynine varieties, four drying methods, fifty unique strains, Midwest warehouse for same-day shipping — but the previous site read like every other kratom site. The category itself attracts a buyer who is skeptical by default and who needs verifiable trust signals (lab testing, sourcing transparency, customer reviews) before adding a $40 strain to cart.

Approach

What we built

Figma redesign anchored on the "Into the Wild" positioning — premium, exploratory, treating kratom strains the way specialty-coffee brands treat single-origin beans. Custom WordPress + WooCommerce build with strain catalog organized by vein color (Red, White, Green, Gold, Maeng Da) and drying method. Sourcing storytelling for the Southeast-Asian origin. Same-day-shipping promise elevated. State-by-state legal map (45 US states) so the buyer can self-verify availability before checkout. COA / lab-test integration on every product page.

The brief

Kratom buyers are skeptical for good reason. The category is fragmented, lightly regulated, and full of vendors who can't tell red-vein from white-vein. I Am Kratom's actual differentiation — high-mitragynine varieties, four documented drying methods, COA testing on every batch, Midwest warehouse for same-day shipping — was real but invisible.

Into the Wild

In Figma we designed the brand around exploration and sourcing — closer to a specialty-coffee single-origin treatment than to a category-default kratom site. Each strain (Red Dragon, White Horn, Gold Horn, Prism Fusion, Green Malay) gets its own product story with origin, vein color, drying method, and lab test results inline.

Why WooCommerce

Custom WordPress + WooCommerce build — the WooCommerce ecosystem handles subscription orders, age-gating, and state-by-state shipping restrictions that this category specifically requires. Custom theme (no page-builder bloat) so PDP load times stay under two seconds on mobile, which is where 70% of the orders come in.

The numbers

Fifty strains organized as a navigable catalog (vein color × drying method). Forty-five-state legality map so buyers self-verify before checkout. COA / lab-test PDF on every product page. Same-day-shipping promise on the hero. The site finally reads like the serious vendor I Am Kratom actually is.
